On Board Diagnostics Calibration Engineer

BAA is currently seeking a flexible and self-motivated OBD Calibration Engineer. This position requires someone who is able to take on a variety of diagnostic calibration and tuning work across multiple engine platforms and meet program deadlines. An ideal candidate will work independently and take ownership of projects while also working as part of a cross-functional team to accomplish team goals.

Job Requirements

Responsibilities:

This position will focus on diagnosing diesel engine and emissions controls issues for the off-highway equipment industry.

  • Analyze data of healthy systems, and of failed systems, and characterize differences.

  • Understand Simulink models of control system and diagnostics and develop improvements.

  • Conduct MIL and HIL testing and potentially vehicle testing.

  • Report progress to program management effectively and escalate issues in a timely manner.

Requirements:

Knowledge of engineering principles and practices to develop and support activities in the area of diagnostics. This includes providing engineering support to complete assessment of calibrations and design review material for diagnostics to complete reviews and releases.

  • Job requires experience in internal combustion engine, or after treatment calibration, and emissions technology.

  • Experience in open and closed loop controls, diagnostics, and On-Board Diagnostics (OBD), electronic control modules, and related microcontroller architectures.

  • Works cross-functionally with other engineers and OBD leaders to help improve OBD capabilities, processes, and products.

  • Knowledge of Analog, Digital Circuit Design, Harness & Interconnect Design, and Electronic Component Specifications.

Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and troubleshooting skills a must.

  • Computer programming and scripting skills, including Excel scripts, are highly desirable.

  • Statistical analysis skills desirable, but not required.

  • Good working knowledge of internal combustion engines required.

  • Hands-on experience with engines a plus

  • Ability to work with customers with diverse backgrounds a must-have.

  • Knowledge of modern diesel exhaust aftertreatment is a plus.

  • Experience developing OBD diagnostics highly desirable.

Education Requirements

Degree in Engineering required (BSME preferred)

Must have at least 1 year relevant work experience, but may consider relevant research projects.
