Electronics System/Test Engineer

Columbus, Indiana

Job Summary

In this role, you will assume responsibility for test activities of products sustaining engineering initiatives. The electronics system / test engineer designs, produces, executes, and maintains test plans, reports; and documents and tracks defects. In addition, the electronics system / test engineer analyzes test results and leverages troubleshooting skills to assist with identifying root cause and conducts re-testing after defects are addressed.

Job Requirements

  • Support control algorithm validation and verification, working regularly with electronics technicians and/or customer engineers

  • Participates in component testing, integration testing, system testing, performance testing, regression testing, test planning and documentation

  • Develops control algorithms for diagnostics and control systems

  • Participates in DFMEA processes as appropriate

  • Releases test and software systems as needed

  • Supports circuit board hardware testing to assure product quality

  • Gather and develop requirements from customers and marketing

  • Work with systems engineers and project lead to design and implement validation procedures per specifications and requirements

  • Conduct reviews of test plans, procedures, and results

  • Supports internal and external customers toward troubleshooting controls problems and managing defect resolution

  • Utilize diagnostic and data collection tools to capture, interpret and document test results, utilizing configuration management tools as designated

  • Minimum 10 years of experience with embedded controls

  • Familiarization with the concepts of abstraction, separation of concerns and design for reuse

  • Experience with hands on testing, troubleshooting, and problem solving required including use of multi-meters, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other tools for electronics debugging

  • Practical experience in the application of control systems, basic knowledge of closed-loop control algorithm development

  • Experience with Matlab / Simulink test script development and LabVIEW required

  • Understands the basic terminology used in systems requirements engineering

  • Basic knowledge of C programming language

  • Basic knowledge of datalinks and communication networks including CAN and Serial communication.  USB and Ethernet knowledge a plus

  • Familiarity with power generation systems a plus

Education Requirements

Must have a BSME or BSEE Degree
