Job Summary
Apply engineering principles and practices to the design of engine electronic control modules and similar componentry. Interact with suppliers and manage the work distribution by relaying requirements of the components to the suppliers. Communicate durability/longevity statistics and failure analysis to design teams, product teams and component suppliers. Verify and validate the integration of controls and software with the hardware. Lead and maintain compliance with a release schedule.

Understand and verify the design and functions of electronics and electronic hardware

Author quality electronic component specifications

Provide technical direction

Document related to design concepts, validation, and product release requirements

Interact with suppliers communicating component requirements and facilitating the resolution of questions and issues

Compile testing results and communicate those to management, project teams and suppliers

Must be comfortable in an electronics lab and using various test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, etc.

Must be comfortable reading schematics, performance specifications and dimensional drawings

Must possess strong project management and communication skills

Must have strong understanding of electronic powertrain controls including the interaction and demands those require of electronic controllers

Electrical/Electronic design experience to facilitate root cause analysis and component assessments

Strong technical and hands-on skills with demonstrated ability to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of varying scope and complexity

Capability and experience of weighing design and technology options and providing recommendations

Ability to mentor/coach engineers with less experience

Should have strong communication and presentation skills both written and oral

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Minitab, electronic circuit modelling tools, schematic capture and drawing tools, etc.
Required 5 years' Experience:
-
In industrial and/or automotive electronics and the application of electronic controls to the operation of engines, exhaust treatment systems, transmissions or similar industrial embedded control systems.

In the design of electronics employed in harsh environments including high temperature and high vibration applications

Training in Engineering Standard Work processes

Six Sigma Tools including Design of Experiments, Fault Tree Analysis, boundary diagrams, and P diagrams

Environmental Testing of Components
Education Requirements
A minimum of a BS Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering preferred. A bachelor's degree minimum in material science, physics, electro-chemistry, EET or similar may be considered if accompanied with extensive applicable work experience.
