BAA is seeking an engineer to support structural analysis and experimental testing of fuel system components and systems and providing timely support to engineering customers.
Job Requirements
Applied Mechanics Engineer Key Responsibilities
Perform structural analysis on fuel systems components / systems according to standard processes (Tools: Ansys Workbench)
Capable of performing stress and fatigue FEA analysis and have an understanding of how those results can relate to strain measurements (Tools: Ansys Workbench)
Perform fatigue testing and subsequent duty cycle analysis including working with lab technicians and determination and documentation of test plan and results
Test and fixture design support
Test plan determination and documentation
Work cross functionally with teams to improve designs based on Analysis / Test results
Applied Mechanics Engineer Desired Skills
Familiar and proficient with strain measurement and FEA analysis and principles
Understand FEA stress and strain results and apply them to a strain data acquisition test plan
Comfortable with engineering project management work and excellent communication and documentation skills
Interest in performing lab-based fatigue tests - no specific experience needed, will be training opportunities
Capable of working and communicating effectively cross functionally
Experience with tools such as vibration analysis, NI LabVIEW, LMS Testlab, Ansys Workbench, FE-Safe, GT-Suite, AVL Excite
Education Requirements
BS in Engineering desired (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or equivalent)
